expedition overview
-
Explore Iceland’s South Coast through its black sand beaches, waterfalls, volcanic landscapes and blue ice formations.
We will spend time finding compositions and photographing each location, with guidance from Diana Firląg throughout. Glacier and ice cave sessions bring opportunities to work with the colours, textures and shapes of the ice, accompanied by a local expert.
The route adapts to winter conditions, allowing us to follow promising light and revisit locations when worthwhile.
-
With a maximum of six photographers, you will have individual support and time to develop your ideas.
Diana will work with you on location, helping with camera settings, composition and the decisions behind each photograph. Whether you want to improve particular techniques or develop your own approach, guidance will reflect your experience and goals.
-
Learn to recognise photographic opportunities and make more confident decisions in the field.
We will explore composition, natural light, long exposures, ND filters, focus bracketing and image stacking, choosing techniques that suit the scene. You will also receive guidance on photographing ice formations, coastal landscapes and the northern lights when conditions allow.
Editing tuition will cover image selection, colour, contrast and finishing your photographs while preserving the atmosphere of the scene.
-
Winter in Iceland shapes how we travel and photograph. Each day’s plan takes account of weather, road access and available light, with time to stay longer when a location offers something special.
Glacier and ice cave visits depend on conditions and safe access. We will also monitor cloud cover and aurora forecasts, heading out for northern lights photography when conditions are suitable.
Locations and the order of activities may change throughout the trip.
